Case details
This project began with a deeply personal request. My client, a woman of Polish origin born and raised in the United States, wanted to reconnect with her family history and understand where her story truly began. Although Poland had always been part of her identity, much of her family past existed only in fragments like old names, distant places, and documents written in a language she could not read.
Her goal was to gather information and to build a complete, meaningful family tree that would reconnect generations and preserve her heritage for the future. She asked for a genealogical tree reaching back as far as possible – ideally to the early 1700s – and for help navigating the complex Polish systems, archives, and historical records required to make this possible.
I acted as her local point of contact in Poland and coordinated the entire process on her behalf. This included selecting and working closely with a professional genealogist experienced in historical Polish records, as well as arranging certified translations of original Polish documents into English so that every discovery could be fully understood and preserved. Throughout the project, I managed communication between all parties, ensured clarity at each stage, and translated not only documents, but also context – explaining what specific records meant, why they mattered, and how they connected to her family story.
The research unfolded gradually, uncovering generations of names, locations, and life events that had long been inaccessible. Over six months of careful work, the family tree grew into a detailed record reaching back to the early 1700s, transforming scattered historical traces into a coherent narrative of ancestry and belonging.
This long-term collaboration was handled through a monthly support package of 20 hours, allowing the project to move forward steadily without pressure or confusion. For my client, the result was more than a document. It was a reconnection with her roots, a clearer sense of identity, and a tangible link between her life today and the generations that came before her.
